1st April 2006 - The
six-month period of the pilot test has finished
today. We will proceed to remove both the network's and the users'
equipment. A meeting with the users has been planned for this month
to evaluate the development of the test and to discuss future prospects.
27th January 2006 - Because of the Centelles PLC project, Centelles Town
Council has received the Innova Award for the most innovative project in
the field of new technologies in the 2005 Local Communication Awards
granted by Barcelona County Council.

1st December 2005 - Meeting
between the users and the project team to
inform the users about the progress and the prospects of the pilot
test
and to get to know their views and problems first-hand. About twenty
users
have attended the meeting.
16th November 2005
2nd November 2005 - The
Centelles Town Council has received an honourable
mention in the 2005 National Awards for Radio and Television Broadcasting,
Internet and Telecommunications because of the Centelles PLC project.
This
is the seventh occasion on which the Awards have been granted by the
Autonomous Government of Catalonia.
1st October 2005 - The
implementation of the PLC network has finished
today. In this way, the six-month period of the pilot test begins and
will
last until 1st April 2006. A meeting with the users has been planned
for
the second half of October to evaluate and monitor the test.
9th September 2005 - Montse Domènech,
member of the department of New
Technologies of the Barcelona County Council, has visited us.
11th July 2005 - The new network
planning has finished. We have given
coverage to 51 users. There are still 6 users offline and 5 users had
the
service disconnected (School, High School and changes of address).
Approval tests show that the network is more stable but the transmission
volume has dropped considerably. The final approval of the project
is
planned for the last week of July.
27th June 2005 - We are making several network changes so as to increase
the number of connected users. The School and High School equipment is
being reused to give coverage to individuals, and new repeaters are being
installed.
21th June 2005 - The President of the Barcelona County Council, Mr.
Celestino Corbacho, has visited the Centelles PLC facilities.
13th June 2005 - Mr Palacios, general
manager of STA (Andorra Telecommunications Services), visits the
Centelles PLC facilities.
11th June 2005 - Article about
the pilot test in the weekly "Dossier
Econòmic de Catalunya", in its issue of 11-17 June
(page 32).
7th June 2005 - Purchase of new equipment has been planned so as
to
increase the number of connected users. Network changes will be made at
the end of June.
25th May 2005 – The network has become stable. In
this moment there are 42 users connected and 20 users without connection.
These cases are being studied so as to reduce the number of users
without connection.
13th May 2005 – Engineers are working to stabilize the network
to guarantee continuous service. The starting shot for the pilot
test has not been given yet.
6th May 2005 - The pilot
test facilities have been officially inaugurated with the attendance
of Josep Oriol Ferran, Secretary of Telecommunications and Information
Society of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia.
29th April 2005 – The
project webpage is launched: www.centellesplc.org
25th April 2005 – The CMT registers the Centelles Town Council
as a Telecommunications Operator.
15th April 2005 – New repeaters
have been installed. All installed modems must be connected for
the next days so as to finish
the installation of the equipment.
6th April 2005 – Internet
connection has been established. The pilot test will start at the
end of this month.
1st April 2005 – New repeaters have been
ordered to give coverage to end users.
30th March 2005 – 30
modems have been installed. We are waiting for Internet connection
to be established.
18th March 2005 – The first repeaters and
the CT equipment have been installed.
10th March 2005 – Connection
has been established between the two CTs (Tussol and Institut)
by means of optical fibre as
well as PLC through the medium voltage grid.
