A Broadband Network is a telecommunications network that allows
us to be permanently connected to the Internet at high speeds, as
well as to enjoy all telecommunications services such as telephone
and image transmission.
What
is PLC?
PLC technology (Power Line Telecommunications) allows us to set
up a Broadband Network by means of the electric-power system of Electradistribució Centelles.
Since the Town Council owns the network, users will be able
to phone each other during the test period.
You will only have
to connect a telephone to the PLC modem and dial the telephone
number of another user without the area
code.
Example:
93 881 03 75 to 881 03 75
Internet
Access
It will be permanent 24 hours a
day. You will have access to all the services you are currently
enjoying through another provider, without limits.
Must I modify the electrical
system?
No, it is not necessary to modify the electrical system. Only in some cases
changes are necessary:
In
residents’ associations: a device must be installed in
the meter room.
In
isolated houses far from a transformer station it may be necessary
to install a device by the meter.
Will
I have an e-mail address and a webpage in the Broadband Network?
During the test period, it is not planned to provide extra services, apart from
those you have already hired from another provider. You will have access to these
services without limits.
Will
my personal details be public?
No, the details provided to the Town Council through the application
form will not be published in any case. With regard to the services
proposed, the Town Council recommends, as in any other Internet Access,
the use of security programs to protect the data stored on your PC
against external attacks.
