PLC Equipment
PLC technology is designed to deliver telecommunications services
over the mains and the medium voltage grid. The Centelles pilot network
structure can be seen in the following diagram.
The equipment to be installed in the user’s home is the PLC
modem.
This modem allows the end user to access the services by means
of their PC or a phone. The PLC modem connects end user terminals
to the network. Available interfaces for the PLC modem are
RJ45 for Ethernet, USB and RJ11 for telephone.
Following upstream the low voltage grid, we find a Repeater. It
improves the signal quality along the network.
In the transformer premises there is the PLC master facility. It
controls and gathers the information traffic (voice and data) that
end users send and receive. It also delivers it to the external
network. This equipment is also known as Head
End Modem.

The pilot Test
For the pilot test, two head end modems have been installed in
the Tussol and High School transformer premises so as to give coverage
to users depending on them.
In the following map we can see the coverage of the Tussol station
(ET17) with all its lines.
